rave gone awry

With much trepidation we chugged on to the F1 circuit on the dark winding roads leading to KLIA.News of possible raids have been floating around, so we were all ‘clean’.Ah well..I’m never the one to refuse a free ticket (Mandy won some online heineken contest).

DJ was playing some retro shite on the turntables before we arrived at 11.40. RETRO? Sighh…they’re not what they used to be anymore.Last rave I went to headlined Prodigy, which was great, but before and after their set, we were all drowned by the usual R&B crap that’s on every club’s playlist. It was amusing for a while. Just a while.

Steve Lawler was ok, a little of electro tech going into his set which lasted for the good part of 1.5 hours. Then in came the Roger Sanchez. Hmm..and his team of singing birds creatively called " The New York band".Looking at people trancing and prancing with Mr Sanchez singining his heart and soul into the mike does not make a good rave, so we headed off to the Loreal station.

Yes folks, Loreal station.Bugger me, they’ve got people there to curl or straighten my hair. This thing has turned out to be something like a fashion parade..whoever has heard of stilettoes in raves? But my hair did turn out very pretty indeed all curled up, not the look for cargo pants and sneakers however.Mandy’s turned into some retro-bob thing which was really nice.

Anyway..lingered on for another hour or so..waiting for Mr Sanchez to boo his new york songbirds off the stage. Not that I’ve got anything for them, but just not in a rave goddamit! Roger Sanchez himself looked like he’s been letting himself go as well, he’s more flab than abs this time around. But he still has that buffed bad-boy look which I totally dig.

At around 1.30 Mr DJ decided that enough is enough and started spinning what he’s know for, deep house. There’s still something missing..he doesn’t seem as good as last year.Just couldn’t bring the crowd up..most people just stood lolling around.Sorry to say,but any Hed Kandi cd’s would make a better party playlist.

Left at 3am sharp..which was quite unsual for me.And that was after spending 1/2 hour gorging on ice cream.Yes folks, there’s an ice cream truck in the rave, complete with smiling idiots ringing the ice cream bells.

All in all, a dissapointing night. Only consolation was that the tickets were free.

Would it be correct to say that the only highlight was the Loreal station? And yup I love Hed Kandi too. :)

Actually…the ice cream was lovely. My mate consumed 4 of those icy treats.hehehe
Hed Kandi is KING! Or queen?

I think it’s more “Queen” than “King” don’t you think. And I’m not gay - not that there’s anything wrong with that. Wahahaha.
